Wingmasters Officer's Club
Dayton Wingmasters
Model Airplane Club
Dayton, Ohio
AMA Charter 499
Hello! ! The Dayton Wingmasters welcomes you to the world of radio
control (R/C) model airplanes. We're sure you will find R/C to be the
sport
of a lifetime.
In some areas of the country, it is very difficult to find a club to
teach you to fly R/C. In fact, in some areas you cannot find a local
R/C
hobby shop. So we urge you to support your local hobby shop and local
club.
Without them, our sport would be difficult to pursue.
The Dayton Wingmasters is a local R/C aero modeler club. Our flying
field is located at the back of Wegerzyn Garden Center, located at 1301
E. Siebenthaler Ave. in Dayton. (see map)
If you are new to R/C, you will need some instruction. R/C airplanes
are not difficult to fly. However, flying an R/C model is not something
you can learn in a few minutes. You should take the time to learn to
fly
with a qualified instructor. You can be sure that if you attempt to
teach
yourself to fly, your model won't last very long. Most R/C
clubs have people who will volunteer to help you, just ask. You have
too
much time and money invested in a model to lose it in a moment of
indecision.
Wingmasters instruction sessions are held on Wednesday evenings from
6 P.M. until dusk, April thru October, and are free of charge. You are
welcome to attend even if you do not have your plane ready. Our members
volunteer their time to help people learn to fly, and to keep a high
quality
flying site in the area. We welcome you out to your first flying lesson
even if you are not a club member. However, we ask that if you continue
with this great sport, that you consider joining our club.
We invite you to visit one of our club meetings. They are held on the
first Thursday of every month at 7:30 p.m. at the flying field, June
thru
September, and at Beardshear Church, 3145 Stop Eight Rd. Dayton,
October
thru May. Please feel free to come visit any time you like. Yearly
memberships
are $15.00.
Before you can use the flying field, you must be a current member of
the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA).
Also, the city of Dayton has provided a locked gate at the field
entrance.
Keys may be purchased for $25.00. The City of Dayton will not allow us
to
give you a key unless you have current AMA insurance (which comes with
an AMA membership). You can get information and an application for the
AMA at you local hobby shop. The field rules are posted at the flying
field.

Please remember to support our local clubs and R/C hobby shops.
Without
them, we would not have a place to fly!
